How do people die from a choke? Doesnt a choke first make them unconscious?

Generally there is 2 main types of chokes. Air chokes and blood chokes.
Blood chokes close off the blood flow to the brain and when properly applied can make someone pass out in around 7 seconds. If you cut off the blood supply to someone’s brain for too long they can die.
Air chokes compress the trachea and cut off your ability to breathe in air which makes you go unconscious and can kill if held for too long. That being said the trachea is sometimes crushed which keeps the person from breathing even after the choke is no longer being applied making air chokes the more dangerous of the 2 imo.
