How do plants know to either sexually or asexually reproduce?

– Some plants reproduce sexually through seeds/flowers.

– Some plants are hermaphroditic or contain bisexual flowers and can self-pollinate

– Some plants clone themselves through tubers/grafting/budding.

In plants that have multiple reproductive options but have limited energy resources, how does it decide which reproduction method to use to fit the environment?

Botany was never my strong suit, but from what I can remember in college…

Plants don’t “know” which one to use through logic and reason like how a human would make a decision. A plant with multiple options will just wind up doing whichever one happens. If the wind picks up? Great, more sexual reproduction! If it doesn’t? Selfing (asexual) may happen instead.
