Sometimes they do.

But in general, people’s bodies can practice into a window of performance.

So for professionals playing a 45 minute half, they have done it so many times that their bodies ‘know’ how to behave and when to relieve.

I ride mountain bikes, and can ride myself into a place where I don’t need to drink or eat for a ~3.5 hour ride.

But if I took someone out who hasn’t been riding regularly, they are going to suck down at least a liter of water, and need a sweet snack to get through the ride.
