when you get a package of premade bagels they look like they’ve already been toasted, the bottoms have a darker brown and the entire thing has some sort of brown to it but it’s actually soft, how do they make these premade bagels look toasted on the outside when they really aren’t

They’re baked. Bagels stay moist and chewy in the middle because they’re first boiled, then baked to crisp the outside.
