How do springs originate at the top of the hills and how do they acquire such volume of water?

One explanation that I found was rainfall but it is not apparent that rainfall could contribute to such volume of water.

Rocks are heavy, and push down on the things below them. Just like how as you go deeper underwater, you feel pressure on your ears, the same occurs here because of the weight of the material above it.

That weight is enough to push water out of any holes that open up between where the water is underground and the surface, which makes what you see.
