If you’ve never woken up still drunk, you’re just not trying hard enough. Sleeping isn’t a method for magical instant sobriety, it’s just a way to skip ahead to when you’d be sober anyway.

Your body processes alcohol at about the same rate, whether awake or asleep. There may be the added benefit of your body and mind feeling rested that makes one feel more “sober”, but there are also many accounts of people who had a LOT of alcohol to drink, and still have some in their system the following morning.

Nope you’d sober up anyway as long as you weren’t drinking. Your liver filters the alcohol out of your blood

Your liver processes alcohol at a fixed rate, so you’re going from drunk to sober because when you’re asleep time passes and you’re not continuing to drink. You’d sober up at the same speed if you had stayed awake and just stopped drinking alcohol.

“Just by sleeping overnight” is just another way of saying “just waiting 8 hours” in this context.

sleppnig has nothnig to do with it

if you stop drinking, eventually the liver processes it all

that’s what sobering up means.

“sleeping it off” basically translates to waiting it out which is likely more pleasant than being awake for it
