How does a Pipehorn work for finding plastic pipes in the ground? I know other forms of locating underground pipes requires some kind of metal alongside the plastic pipe. But If its just plastic with no metal, how does the Pipehorn work to find the plastic pipe?
Plastic is non-conductive, so what does the Pipehorn do exactly?

A simple google shows that it’s a form of ground penetrating radar. A high frequency vibration is introduced to the ground and vibration sensors translate their readings onto a screen. The pipe is hollow therefore is not transmitting the vibration as effectively as the surrounding ground. Varying the strength of vibration and position on the ground gives a picture of a dark line, which is the pipe. The software cleans up the image a bit but it doesn’t have to be pretty.

On plastic pipe when they bury it they bury a tracer wire with it . A cooper wire they hook up to that was wrapped around the pipe . on water line it is in the water meter box .
