You mean an old school vinyl record player?

Basically you have vinyl which is like a CD but it has grooves in it. The grooves are from when the sound was recorded and is what “contains” the sound.

The record player has a needle which traces these grooves which are then transformed to an electrical signal which is then run by a speaker which plays the sound.
