how does a star form ?

Is hydrogen “magnetic” where atoms are attracted to each other, and given enough material a star forms ? I saw an episode of how the universe works is what got me wondering.

Generally speaking all matter is attracted to each other because of gravity. Planets, stars, and many kinds of heavenly bodies have formed gradually when dust particles have formed large enough clouds that their gravity presses them together into spheres.

The planets of our solar system are thought to have formed out of leftovers from when our sun was forming.
