Air that is too ‘pure’ means more skin stuff, that protects the skin, instead, is absorbed by air. Air that is too dry or too clean can literally suck too many materials (that some call oily dirt) from skin. Resulting in skin problems such as chapping and sometimes chafing.

Too much humidity creates other problem. The question can only be answered with a relative humidity number. A best number is typically 40%.

Meanwhile, if working in a clean room, then bring chap stick. Lips are often a first thing sucked dry by that cleanest air.

Same applies to water. Cleanest water (deionized water) also does bad things to skin and other tissues. Safer water contains contaminates.
