The sensitive parts (all those where you have the emulsion) is done in the dark.
For old film you could do this in red light (because it was much less sensitive to that), but for panchromatic film it’s just dark. And you are moving sheets of plastic very quickly, so you have to take care to get rid of any static electricity, otherwise the sparks will end up in the picture.
