Essentially, CO (carbon monoxide) will displace O2 (oxygen) in your bloodstream and your body will be starved of oxygen. We need oxygen to live and we cannot get it from CO. SO you end up with red blood cells full of CO and no way to get O2 to the body’s tissues.
