How does color safe bleach work?

I’ve learned about how bleach works from the sub but I’m confused as to how you can make a “color safe” bleach.

It’s not bleach (sodium chloride or sodium hypochlorite), but rather mostly hydrogen peroxide, a type of medical disinfectant.

It does much the same job as bleach, which is about killing germs, but doesn’t interact with the dyes in the clothes as easily. They also include additives that enhance the existing dyes, making them seem brighter longer.

It should be noted that hydrogen peroxide is not as effective as bleach at killing germs, it’s just good enough to be better than liquid detergent.
