How does Hydrogen Peroxide work as a disinfectant?

My 5yo can’t pronounce peroxide.

You fake.

H2O2 is extremely unstable and the extra Oxygen is super reactive with… anything. Put it in contact with bacteria and it will destroy its structure. Not quite sure how it works with viruses though.

But oxygen is a super strong oxydizer by definition and so will attack pretty much everything until it’s all reacted.
