The bones are intentionally broken in specific places, then separators are placed to hold the bones close but a part, natural healing then reconnects and stitches the bones together, this is repeated until limbs are even. Usually the procedure is only performed on deformed limbs because the results aren’t always perfect or strong and doing the procedure on normal healthy limbs can cause complications.
