How does magnetism work?

I know about there’s like an electron spin, and they like all cancel out? But then how do the poles work? I just can’t find any clear explanation on them easily, can you help me?

I’d like to try to explain it simply but I’d probably make a mess of it, [this video](https://youtu.be/hFAOXdXZ5TM) may help though.

If you’ve ever played stringed instruments, you may have noticed that there’s a core(usually nylon) with a metal wire wrapped around it.

Imagine the nylon is an electron moving in a straight line. The metal wrapped around it is its magnetic field.

Now, if the electron is going in circles, then those metal windings line up and add up.

The magnetic field does not have a start and stop position. There is no north and south pole. It’s just magnetic fields going in circles around electrons as they always do. The secret is to make the electrons go in circles so not it LOOKS like the magnetic field is going straight through the magnet and then bends around when it gets out.
