This is something I think everyone has done, when your TV, AC any remote stops working and once you hit it few times against any hard surface that remote miraculously comes to life for atleast few chances. How does that happen?

The batteries simply get knocked loose from the contacts. With no power, the remote doesn’t work.

When the contacts connect again, then suddenly it has power and starts to work. If it happens again, just reseat the batteries.

What’s going on is that, while the batteries in the device are discharging, a thin film of corrosion builds up on the terminals and impairs the connection to the device. Banging the remote against the wall slightly shifts the batteries, breaking the film and restoring connectivity.

Subjecting nearly dead alkaline batteries to mechanical shock can actually get a little bit more capacity out of them. You shouldn’t go hammering them though, the warning about damaging batteries on the sleeving is there for a reason.
