Sunscreen contains chemicals that absorb or reflect ultraviolet (UV) light before it can reach your skin and damage it.

Common active ingredients in sunscreen include: oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate and octinoxate, all of which absorb UV light.

Mineral sunscreens use zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide, which reflect UV light.

Back in the old days it was just molten plastic with the temperature of its solidification brought down by oils.
Things are much different now.
