How does the addressing scheme of POP3 work?

Through my own research I have learned what the Post Office Protocol is but I’m struggling to find any specifics. I am trying to find out the format of the addressing scheme and how it operates.

Thankyou in advance!

Can you elaborate on addressing scheme?

POP3 is a protocol to download messages from a mail server. It doesn’t actually send or receive email.

The only thing I can think of that would involve addressing is connecting to the server in the first place which is just standard dns to resolve hostnames to ip address and tcp/ip for communication.
