How does the body deal with blunt injuries/bruises?

I know that the body has an immune system to protect it obviously, and when you get a cut all sorts of harmful bacteria enter your body, so your immune system (white blood cells, Killer T cells etc.) fights it off while closing the wound.

In a blunt injury, take a baseball bat hitting your arm for example, your body cant close anything off and no bacteria enters the body. What can the body even do to repair itself?
Feel free to correct me if I was wrong anywhere here, but I don’t think I will be because I gave a really basic explanation to my knowledge lol

I can answer this, I just slipped on the ice two weeks ago and had massive bruising on my foot and possibly torn ligaments.

Inflammation and swelling is how the body reacts to that. From what was explained to me, the body goes into panic mode and swells the area, which is why it hurts while swollen, but is a BITCH when the swelling goes down.
