How does the contact lens stay in the center of the eye and not go anywhere in the white part when already worn?

The cornea sticks out of the eyeball just a little bit and the contact lens is designed to fit over that shape. If you have astigmatism, It might not stick out as much or too much or is just a bit misshapen so that it is harder for the contact lens to stay.
