A complete answer would be very very long. Several weeks of lectures are dedicated to all the intricacies of how everything is tightly regulated.

Here’s a link to a nephron. There are many “boiled down” versions, but it comes down to
1) check water / salt balance, make big changes, tweak it later
2) recover the “good stuff” – glucose, etc
3) check the pH. If too low, get rid of acid
