There at 38 numbers. 1-36 are alternating red/black and then there is a green 0 and 00 which is what gives the house the advantage. Without these two spaces, your bet for red/black would be 50%. With them, it’s slightly less (18/38 ~= 47.3%). When you play a single number, you have a 1/38 chance to make 35x your bet.
