How is it that some of our hairs fall off everyday, yet it never seems to reduce the overall amount? Do baby hairs grow that quickly?

For every hair that falls off, another is reaching maturity. You just never notice the different lengths because they all blend together.

Ever try to count all of the hairs on your head? You will very quickly realize that there is a staggeringly high number of individual hairs. In spite of how many individual hairs we have one single hair is still noticeable.

Really we have so many hairs on our heads that we can lose several a day and not have a significant effect on the amount of hair we have.

We have a *really* high amount of hair follicles on our head. Losing a few really doesn’t make any noticeable difference since the difference is hidden amongst the vast forest of hairs

That’s like removing a few leaves from an oak tree, and asking to see the difference. It’s almost unnoticeable
