After a person dies (death meaning no heart, brain or lung functions) how long do the cells live for? Are their cells in the body that keep living and cause the body to go through processes like rigor and decay, like do the white blood cells just start eating up everything?

I can’t remember what show i saw it in but some educational show i saw was explaining this and a body begins to decompose almost immediately after death. It starts out slowly but a body gets pretty gross faster than meat in the fridge goes bad since a dead body is basically already warm meat that’s been left out.
