How would you put a derailed train back into the tracks?

If it’s a low speed derailment and it’s sitting upright with the wheels a few inches off the track, it can be done with hydraulic jacks. Some to lift and some at an angle to push it across once it’s high enough. It’s an amazing thing to watch.
For more serious derailments, then a crane is needed.

From a minor derailment, they use cranes to lift the cars back up. Anything major that may have damaged the rail cars will result in the rail cars being put onto other intact rail cars and shipped to somewhere else to be repaired or salvaged.

a derailed train is probably damaged or destroyed and needs repair or to be scrapped. so you move it to a trainyard that will handle any repairs/scrapping/etc and they can put it back on the tracks or not.
