Go to Hawaii or Florida or nearly any lush tropical spot and look down at the grass at night with a flashlight… Then wish you hadn’t.

Predators eat them. So they have to hide and scurry about.

Also, you have other animals that are competing for their same space.

It is a lot harder for a roach in the wild than it is for a roach in your room.

In the south they are definitely outside. In South Carolina they are called palmetto bugs because you can definitely see them living in the palmetto trees
