Yes, the only difference is the amount of testosterone. Women have a lesser amount of testosterone but if it’s too low it can cause problems. Men also have low levels of estrogen and progesterone, which when off balance can cause problems for them as well.

I had zero testosterone in September of last year. Before then, I had a very stressful job, felt extremely tired all the time and was just in a crappy mood. I thought it was the job, I was completely burned out by that point. In September, I got a new position where I don’t really do much. By the end of September, I still felt horrendous, so I knew it wasn’t all the stress for the job doing it. At that point, my hair was falling out rapidly, I was only sleeping maybe 4 hour per night. My skin was so dry it was cracking and falling off my hands and feet. Got blood work done, zero T. I’ve been getting bioidentical hormones since October and feel so much better. All symptoms gone.

My fiance had her ovaries removed because of a genetic ovarian cancer risk, so her body doesn’t produce estrogen naturally. She’s too young for menopause, so she has transdermal estrogen patches. If the patch comes off early and she goes a few days without receiving the hormones, it has a noticeable effect on her mood, similar to what OP’s title describes.

Hormones are weird.
