If only Muslims are allowed in Mecca, how can they “check” to “verify” what religion you are? How do you “prove” that you are Muslim?

How can they “prove” that you are not Muslim if you say you are?

This is an honest question. I’m not Muslim but if I just went out today and picked up a Quran and read a couple pages and said “yeah I’m Muslim now” and then declared that I was Muslim to anyone who asked, would that make me Muslim and therefore allowed to enter Mecca?

On the surface it would appear to be difficult for Saudi Arabia to enforce this law; and let’s be clear. It’s a National law, not a law of Islam.

On the other hand; is Saudi Arabia a country you want to attempt to deceive when it comes to their laws?

Probably not.

They(Mostly) can’t. An English explorer (Richard Burton) visited by pretending to be Muslim.
Now if you don’t look Muslim they can check your social media and stuff; but if you don’t talk about religion online that won’t help them

> For a Western Muslim convert to be allowed to go on hajj, he or she must present documentation from an imam (Muslim religious leader). The imam must testify in writing that he knows the person in question and that the person is a true convert.

I live in mecca, in reality nobody cares. It is crowded city and it’s impossible to look after everyone.
