If the brain doesn’t have pain receptors, why do we feel pain? What happens during a headache?

The brain doesn’t have any pain receptors, but the nerves, muscles, and sheath (the *maters*) surrounding the brain all do. When we think our brain is hurting, it’s actually those surrounding structures that are sending the signals.
