If your liver can regrow itself then why is partial hepatectomy not a treatment for cirrhosis?

If your liver is cirrhotic it already has a lot of scarring and damage to it, which means its ability to regenerate diminishes. Also, imagine how it’s struggling to function when it’s cirrhotic, taking off a portion of it would mean barely existent liver function in the patient in the meantime.
