In terms of how alcohol affects one’s system, what sort of effect does alcohol content in a drink have?

Like if I have 2 shots of vodka (40% alcohol), or 1 shot of nay rum (80% alcohol), what difference does it make to my body?

If you ingest the same amount of alcohol, but with one you drink nothing and the other you drink a liter of water, then in the first case the alcohol would be absorbed into your bloodstream faster and more sudden than in the second case.
