Is it okay to turn off TV, AC and other appliances directly from the main switch (without using the remote first) ?

I’m gonna say in most cases, no. Especially with electronics, abruptly cutting out the power will cause parts to fail much easier. If it has moving parts like motors, then definitely no. It’s like if you were driving and wanted to stop the car, rather than hitting the brakes, you just shifted to park or turned off the car…it won’t immediately break it, but it’ll definitely do some damage.
