is there a beneficial or evolutionary advantage to headaches/migraines or are they just an annoying by product of evolution and being human?

As a migraine/headache sufferer I read a lot about it and it seems that there is no common understanding for them. I can get migraines from weather changing and since we don’t control the weather it doesn’t seem a nice tool to have. What it does is help me keeping more rules living, because anything can trigger this condition. Food, smells, sleeping, stress… And so on.

All pain points towards something being wrong which needs fixing.

A lot of headaches are a result of blood pressure imbalance. In the absence of such (annoying) ‘notifications’, we run the risk of rupturing blood vessels or falling short of oxygen in the brain.

I think its important to know what evolution really is and what it isn’t.

Evolution is random, its like gambling the slot machine. The price for scoring three 7s is surviving a disease. Lets take the cold as an example.

Someone, thousands of years ago pull the slot machine in the genes, the instructions their body follow. Too bad, one of each. You die to the cold if you catch it. This goes on for a while.

Then our great friend Sven comes along and uses the slot machine, three 7s! His price? Surviving the cold. This lucky draw is a mutation, something different in the instructions of the body. That can be good or bad.

Sven, the bastard he is, only teaches how to draw three 7s to his children and thus his children can survive the cold too. Their children only teach it to their offspring and so on.

Eventually there are only people who can draw thre 7s because it ensured their survival.

Headaches aren’t the cause of enough deaths for someone like Sven to survive more than those who can’t draw three 7s.

Certain headaches develop when you’re dehydrated. So that one in particular could be a warning sign but overall, Sven isn’t able to survive more likely with his mutation, his three 7s, than those who cant.

just about everything that causes pain is a REACTION to something else.

Evolution doesnt go around causing pain because it feel like it. Pain is a coarse indicator that something in general is wrong.

I get them from mold exposure, etc. Only benefit I could see is telling the crew that they should not stay in this cave too long
