You have to practice math in your head to get good at it. If you learn percentages, that will really help. Cross multiply and divide is the most useful equation I use.

That depends on how large of numbers you are looking at and how accurate you want division to be.

Here’s a quick way to know when a number can be evenly divided by these certain numbers:

* 10 if the number ends in 0
* 9 when the digits are added together and the total is evenly divisible by 9
* 8 if the last three digits are evenly divisible by 8 or are 000
* 6 if it is an even number and when the digits are added together the answer is evenly divisible by 3
* 5 if it ends in a 0 or 5
* 4 if it ends in 00 or a two digit number that is evenly divisible by 4
* 3 when the digits are added together and the result is evenly divisible by the number 3
* 2 if it ends in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8

You could also use the calculator in your pocket.

Divide each number separately and add back in.

353 / 2

Divide 300 / 2 = 150

Divide 50 / 2= 25

Divide 3 / 2 = 1.5

Add back up. 176.5

Alternatively, break the number I tho the largest chunks you know.

350/2 = 175.

You’re left with 3/2 = 1.5

Add them back up to get 176.5

This is actually the base of common core math. It’s about seeing numbers as relative and learning ways to manipulate them to make math easier. The problem is the teachers who taught common core didn’t understand the why of it.

Yes, a calculator. They are on almost every computer, cell phone, tablet and smartwatch. If you dont have one of those, they even sell very small computers that only have a calculator. They can cost anywhere from a couple bucks to $100 if you buy a fancy one. The way it works is you put the number you want to big number, then press the ÷ symbol, then enter the number of groups you want to make. Press the = button and it will tell you how many numbers are in each group
