Mattress overlay, mattress protector, mattress underlay, mattress topper. Does a bed need them all?

An underlay helps protect the mattress in a high humidity environment. In other words, if you’re having issues with mold, you may want one.
An overlay is the same thing as a mattress topper. You don’t need one unless the bed isn’t soft enough for you.
A protector is just that. There are all different kinds, but it can keep sweat from getting in to your mattress. I always keep one on my bed to make the mattress not only last longer but it can be washed with your sheets so the mattress has less sweat, skin cells, etc. It’s healthier. They make these in fabric or a plastic or vinyl like material that help protect it with bed wetting issues.
