Why is it that if you stripe two NVME drives, and put them on separate pcie channels, there is no real world performance increase except in specific edge cases?

You’re asking someone to ELI5 computer science.

Seriously though, the whole point of Raid0 is to allow computers to read slow HDD’s in a way that reduces the bottleneck of spinning drives by queuing up the data. There’s no hardware bottleneck with NVME drives so there’s no benefit to striping.
