people get runny nose when crying?

Each of your lower eyelids has two tiny holes in them that are direct pipes to the inside of your nasal cavity. When you tear up a lot, some of those tears will drain into these passages and end up in your nasal cavity. The tears mix up with the mucus in your nostrils and drip out as runny nose.
Your tear ducts drain from your eyes into your nose. When your eyes water or you are crying some of that fluid will go down into your nose.
