Septum rings

How do people with septum piercings handle sneezes? Do they hurt? How do you clean up? What about moments when you need a pick and you have something in the way?

I stretched my septum piercing to 6.5mm.

While the original piercing was a little stiff to begin with it soon loosened up. And that’s part of the reason it ended up being stretched, that and the fact I couldn’t help but put another ring in, cos I liked the look of layered jewelry.

As mentioned before, once healed it moves out the way quite easily fit sneezes etc with no problems or pain.

I haven’t worn anything in my septum for about 15 years, partly because my doc suggested it might be part of the reason I kept getting a stuffy nose, though she admitted she might be making it up and partly because it didn’t seem right to wear it at work (at the time).

People can still see through my nose from the right angle and I can still fit a 5mm piece of jewelry in there.

And no, no pain or problems.

I don’t have one myself, but I have some friends who do. They’re a pretty easy piercing to get that isn’t very painful and heals pretty quickly. At first sneezes and just messing with your nose at all will hurt and you just have to deal with it. Once it heals though it’s not really in the way at all. They’re usually not super big so as long as it’s kept clean they’re super easy to manage.
