Military is the combined forces meant for war. That is the Army, Air Force, and Navy.

The Army is land based warfare, the Navy is sea based warfare, and Air Force is Air based.

The US Marines are a mix between Navy and Army. They specialize in coastal invasions, but can be used as general infantry (like the Army).
