the journey that effervescent pain meds take in the body

Im interested to know how medications like Dispirin are processed by the body, and why they work the way they work. How does it go from the stomach to the brain?

Thanks so much 💖

Fizzy and powdered pain killers work faster because the medicine dissolves faster in the water than a pill does.

Disprin is literally just a fizzy aspirin, so follows the same metabolic pathway as aspirin. It’s absorbed rapidly through the stomach lining into your blood, turned into salicylic acid in the liver and distributed around the body by your blood.

Very little of the salicylic acid will cross the blood-brain barrier, but that’s fine. Your brain can’t feel pain directly. Headaches happen around your head, not deep inside.
