Throughout history an average wild animal has had the ability to kill an average human being so how did we as a species not only survive but ended up on the top of the food chain?
The first 10 minutes of the film 2001: A Space Odyssey, provide part of the answer, our ancestors developing the ability to use tools in defense against animals, and working together as a group. (It didn’t actually require a monolith, but that’s part of the story.)
