To everyday consumer? None. And you can easily overdose on iodine if you just take it without any particular need. It is used, among other things, to add iodine to table salt, because people need iodine in small amounts and many many populations around the world wouldn’t get it in their regular diets. But, in regular iodized table salt, there’s 0.01% of KI.
It is used in higher concentrations in cases of exposure to radiation, to saturate the thyroid with iodine that would prevent it from accumulating radioactive iodine which is a common byproduct of the uranium fission and will be released in accidents (like Chernobyl). In many places that operate nuclear power plants, it’s distributed to the population living within a certain distance of a nuclear power plant as a precaution.
