: What actually happens when you ‘crick’ your neck?

Moved my head too suddenly a moment ago and ‘cricked’ my neck. I’m not sure if this is what it’s widely referred to as – but it’s the painful sensation when you suddenly move your neck and you have a minute or so of tightness on one side of your neck).
What is this? And why doesn’t it happen to any other parts of the body?
