Environmental factors can switch on/off genes. Things like nutrition, stress, music, etc. Can activate a gene that’s already there.

Basically, anything so traumatic or stressful can leave a genetic imprint of that trauma, that is then carried on to tour offspring. For example, people who experienced 9/11 and were traumatized had a chance of passing that on to their kids

All your cells have the same DNA or instruction, but your skin cell is diferent to a neuron … so how does this work? Imagine you ve a big manual whit every instruction of how your body works and you want to know only how brain cells works. So you go to the Neuro part and highlight it, and ignore the rest. Have you change what is written? No , you just used the information that you need.

Epigenetics its like that, you have all the instruction in your DNA, but by the way it is “folded” and organice you can choose what information do you acces

Your genes are a toolbox and epigenetics are what tools you are using right now.

Changes to your environment will affect which tools you are using right now. And recent science has shown, you can pass your epigenetic to your children.
