What are prions and why are they so hard to kill ?

Prions aren’t alive, to start with. They are just wrongly folded proteins. It’s not a matter of “killing” them, it’s a matter of finding them before their shape causes the similar proteins to fold the same wrong way. All those protein molecules are supposed to be in your body, just folded another way.
