Are you asking why some directors use prefer to record on physical film instead of digital cameras? It’s because they like the way it looks.

Any camera you make a movie with is a “movie camera”.

firstly technical, film has a huge dynamic range. i think some of the new digital cameras might get there but havent been keeping with the latest news. film is more forgiving to your exposure and the curve from light to shadows is very soft and smooth. artistically, the colour and grain is lovely, you can get there with colour correction but nothing beats the original and people have no idea how much work goes into colour correction. thirdly, nostalgia and excitement, nothing beats the excitement of watching your rushes the next day, stress is all time high. watching your work bloom up on the screen and breathing a sigh of relief or if you fucked up, crawling into a hole and dying. and also many filmakers and “snobby and artistic”. me personally i started on film but digital has its advantages. also, film is dying. its really very hard to get film and place to develope it nowdays.
