Paler skin basically reflects the UV rays.
A burn occurs when the UV rays damage or mutate the cells and the skin that’s damaged gets flooded with blood to try and repair the cells causing a sunburn or something along those lines.
A tan, usually you need at least a little bit of melanin and when the cells are damaged your body overproduced more melanin to try and protect itself from further sun damage
Getting lighter with age isn’t uncommon among Latinas and Asians.
I’d still recommend using a sunscreen because certain rays are still able to penetrate the skin and can cause damage in the long run.
