What causes Migraines?

Just threw up and nearly passed out from a migraine. I know it’s a migraine because I get them once or twice a year. But what ACTUALLY causes them?

Migraines suck soooooo much. I’m so grateful I only get them once or twice a year.

For anyone who suffers or is newly suffering, please start making journal entries of everything you did and ate in the day you got a migraine. Hopefully over time you can discover what the trigger it.

Are you sure you have migranes, and not Cluster headaches? I would look up both migranes and Cluster headaches and see if there are any distinct symptoms for one over the other. Cluster headaches are treated differently to Migranes, and are also more painful from what i have read.

My older brother was sure he got migraines after he ate food with yellow coloring and/or bananas, he’s modified his diet a lot and doesn’t get migraines anymore. Everyone has their little weirdsies.

Caffeine. Maybe not all Migraines, but many of them.

At various periods I have been hooked on Coffee, Diet Coke, and Tea. Once all three at the same time. Coke vs Pepsi caffeine are separately addicting and separately cause their own version of Migraines.

Coke vs Diet Coke vs off-brand coke copies (like Kroger/supermarket generic) are different.

If you drink one for a few weeks and switch, you will get a withdrawal migraine from the previous drink. Usually it will last one night. Consider using aspirin/ibuprofen/alcohol to get through the evening Migraine and then don’t buy any of those products the next day so you don’t get hooked on them again.

Caffeine and Migraines go together. Break one to eliminate the other.
