The border between Norway and Russia is defined by 2 rivers that streches 3/4 of the aprox 200 kilometer long border. The agreement is that the border is always the deepest part of the river no matter how it changes and there is a 200meter “No build Zone” at both side of the river and the Norwegian side has a chainlink fence just outside this 200meter zone. The rivers are remote and this is not a problem for Norway or Russia as it is only marsh, wetlands and hills. There is only one border crossing road and toll station with a bridge over the river. The majority of traffic is Russians driving over to buy western convenience store products (especially baby diapers) and fuel without twigs in it.
